The subjects that students find most the difficult are prioritization and therapeutic communication.

Some people may be surprised that there are a few math questions on the HESI A2 exam. There will be at least seven math questions on the exam. It will be a good idea to get all of them correct to help with your overall score. A good way to prepare yourself for the math questions is to practice some pediatric math problems. Remember practice makes perfect on the HESI test so keep doing the problems until it becomes second nature. If you can find a HESI practice test or a HESI study guide it will help a lot.

Therapeutic communication means how you should deal with a patient’s distress. When you get asked questions from a patient, it is important to remember that your job is to tell them in a nice way what the truth is. When you give them an answer it is important for the patient not to feel self defensive. The nurse should never make the patient feel that they did something wrong.

Another area where you need to be prepared for before taking the HESI exam is mental health questions. You need to be sensitive to each patients needs. For example an anorexic patient will need to be dealt with in a different way than a bulimic patient. You have to be aware of the patients rights at all times and need to encourage them a little bit at a time. There will be times when you will need to distract patients and at other times you may have to ignore them. So studying up and preparing yourself with these types of questions will be a good idea before you take the HESI exam.

The other subjects that will be dealt with for the HESI exam are delegation questions, therapeutic communication, medication administration and post operative (post op) care. Using a HESI study guide will help you pass the HESI Exam. Don't worry. There are many different types of HESI A2 practice test options such as HESI exam simulation software.
